Regarding How to Properly Maintain Water Bodies in Aquaculture
2025-04-25 17:30:29

In aquaculture, we often carry out operations such as pest control, bottom modification, disinfection, detoxification, bacterial supplementation, and water fertilization to improve and stabilize water quality. These operations are also important means to ensure good water quality and improve aquaculture benefits. But when we need to perform these operations, the steps and sequence must be correct and reasonable. Once a mistake is made, the effectiveness of these measures will be greatly reduced, and even the actual problem cannot be solved.

* Improvement of the bottom of the water body

The purpose of bottom modification is to improve the bottom environment of the pond, reduce the production of harmful substances, increase the dissolved oxygen at the bottom, and create a living condition that is conducive to microorganisms and farmed animals. For bottom modification, we often use: potassium persulfate, potassium ferrate and biological bottom modification, hydrogen peroxide, etc. to decompose organic matter at the bottom of the pond and quickly improve the bottom quality.

* Disinfection of water bodies

Disinfection is to further inhibit and kill harmful bacteria, viruses and other pathogenic microorganisms remaining in the water body and purify the water quality. Commonly used disinfectants include povidone iodine, compound iodine, glutaraldehyde, benzalkonium bromide and chlorine-containing disinfectants.

* Water detoxification
After the above steps, there are often some disinfectants and heavy metal residues in the water. The purpose of detoxification is to remove these toxin residues and further improve the water quality.

* Supplementing beneficial bacteria
The purpose of supplementing bacteria is to decompose harmful substances such as organic matter and ammonia nitrogen in the water into inorganic salts by adding beneficial microorganisms to the water, while inhibiting the reproduction of harmful bacteria, laying the foundation for further balance of bacteria and algae.

* Improving nutrients in the water
Fertilizing water is to promote the growth and reproduction of algae and plankton by adding nutrients such as nitrogen sources, carbon sources and trace elements to the water. Excellent and stable algae phase is not only the key to maintaining the ecological balance of the water body, but also can provide a rich food source and dissolved oxygen conditions for aquatic animals.

Disinsection, bottom modification, disinfection, detoxification, bacteria supplementation and fertilization are important steps in aquaculture to ensure healthy water quality and improve aquaculture benefits. Through this series of operations, a good water environment can be created to provide a strong guarantee for the growth of aquatic animals. In actual operation, we must ensure that the implementation of various measures is scientific and reasonable to achieve the best results.
